Actions - Condition (if) - doesn't run on some computers

Hi,

I created an action with an if condition. It runs on my machine and on some others, too. It was created in the German version of Photoshop. For some reason it doesn't work on other machines. Error message was like "couldn't find "Falls" command"."Falls" is the German word for "If". On some English versions it would run on some it won't. My Adobe version is CC 2017. It also runs on some CS5 and CS6 versions but not on all. Any idea?

Conditional Actions were, according to Wikipedia, introduced in CC
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobe_Photoshop_version_history
so it seems peculiar that the Action works in CS5 and CS6 – are you sure it does?

Hi Christoph,

that's really strange. I didn't do the test myself since the people using it are spreaded all over the world.
But I even have it working on CS5.1.

Here you can see my test results:

Thanks

As the Action seems to work for some on CC English and not for another it might be difficult to pinpoint the problem.
Are the playback options identical?
What are the Action steps? Please post a screenshot of the fully expanded Action or an atn-file.

I didn't change any of the playback options and I don't think the users that have the error won't neither because they are basic users.

I cannot send the full action screen shot since this is property of our company but here is how it works:

And here is the error message:

From other computers the error message was "The command "Falls" is not currently available"

That the English alert mentions the command »If« and the Actions Panel shows »If«, too, seems to indicate that the localisation works and the language might not be the problem at all.

I would recommend completely disregarding CS5 here and focusing on troubleshooting the one English and the one Dutch CC installation that exhibit the problem.
Can you check or have the respective users check whether recording conditional Actions works on those two set-ups?

Hey again,

it seems that Wikipedia is wrong:
https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/conditional-actions-creative-cloud.html

On the right hand side it says "Applies to: Photoshop Photoshop CC Photoshop CS6"

I don’t remember when Conditional Actions were introduced, I prefer to use Scripts for conditional automation so I don’t really use them.

On page 642 of the Photoshop CS6 reference the title is specifically »Adding conditional actions | Creative Cloud«, so while it’s possible it had actually already been in place the announcement seems to have come with CC.

Howdy Franz,

I'm pretty sure that Actions are language-specific.  The commands are localized into applications language, so they won't be understood by PS running in a different language.

Hope that helps,
David

Hey David,

thanks for your suggestion. We are running plenty of actions in many languages since about 10 years and I never had any issue with languages. Only the conditions seem to have a problem.
