Hey There!

I'm struck with a challenge to create a photoshop action. I have a circular image 1000×1000 and I have to create a banner 1400×350. Every time I need to resize any image to banner size.

1. I open a new document with those dimensions 1400x350.
2. I place the image in that banner.
3. Resize it to the center of the banner.
4. Save as for web (JPEG)

I'm trying to automate it by using actions, I'll open the image in photoshop. Play the resize action and it should do all the 4 steps and ask me to save as. Is it possible to create any action for this activity? I tried doing it but I was not successful.

Hello, what comes to mind for me is this and I may be way off base, if the 'banner' is something already created and separate from the image you are working with. If you were to open the new image, then 'resize' it to the new dimensions you then could save it as a jpg with an action, as long as there are no layers. As part of the Action, before saving it the banner could be opened, select all of it, copy it and then drop it into the new image. You would have to flatten it before saving it as a jpg file.

One other thing you could do is make the banner into a brush, if it stays the same. Open the new image, resize it and brush/copy the banner into the new image and then save it. I'm sure there is a way and if the two suggestions here don't work out, there will be someone that has an answer.

After playing around, I tried [File] [Place Embedded] and that worked better.

Good Luck!
