Unusable in what way? Can you provide more details or a screen recording demonstrating your issue?

Here is my demo showing the inefficiency of the new crop tool in ACR for Win 10.  In Win 7 is is even worse - you ONLY get to see the result in the thumbnail in the filmstrip window.  This link will be active until July 5th then it will expire.

I don't see how to revert to the prior Bridge anywhere.

Let's try it again: Go into the Adobe CC application, click on Bridge and ... and select Older Version,

thanks - I see that now.  That I [we] are even having to do this is terrible.

Open your eyes. There is now no way to select an area in the image to crop manually......

Jerry - this is not helpful nor does it constructively contribute toward addressing the problem.

Hello to you and thanks for the reply. Upon investigation it has come to light that my GraphicsCard is borderline. Cropping had become impossible, hopefully all will be revealed shortly.

when I use the 'new' crop tool in my Win 7 notebook I ONLY see the crop in the tiny filmstrip area - not in the larger screen - unless I commit the crop then it shows.  Plus how the tool behaves is very difficult to use - you must move the image around in the crop window to get what you want included as opposed to the very efficient way it works over in Photoshop where you can just drag a box over the stationary image to include what you want.  I find the crop tool in ACR is essentially useless - you may have well just removed it as it is not usable anymore.  I now  must crop over in Photoshop where I can see it better and have more control.  Please offer a revert to the prior method..

Another BiIG issue with the new crop , by using ACR with multiple image editing, when cropping one image, synced to other exited images, I want to fine tune the crop of the “other synced” images. Before, I could use the keyboard arrows down to the next image and do the fine tuning to the synced crop. Now- the keyboard arrows are moving the crop in the source - that means you need to go out> click on the next image> and just the able to fine tune. That’s a hassle!!! The idea is to shorten the workflow, this new crop triple the workflow timing. (And unfortunately there are some other new issues that are slowing down the workflow tremendously )

Another  significant cropping problem is that it appears that one can no longer zoom in on an image and crop it to what is seen on the screen.Til this update, my workflow would often be to zoom in on an image and position it using the hand tool to get the composition I desired, and then draw a cropping box right onto the image as visualized on the screen. Now I am forced to use a reduced size cropping screen image which only gets relatively smaller as I crop.  This makes it difficult to assess whether or not the image can sharpness wise tolerate the crop and more difficult to appreciate how the end crop will look. This should be corrected to restore the prior functionality. I would suggest that any menu that is available by right clicking on an image should provide  the choice of 'crop to screen.' This would be a very useful option.

New crop tool is absolutely useless! It works like it takes 3000% CPU and GPU!
It's a CROP! it should be the easiest and fastest tool in the ACR!!! The MOST basic tool! Ti was sooooooo good, why did you breake it so hard???

I am glad to hear i am not lone with the issues with the crop tool.  This was clearly a step backward in the latest release and I have to find a way to go back to the legacy or former version to make it work.  I shut off the GPU processing and it will now show me in the filmstrip what the drop is going to look like but that is so small that it is useless for making critical crops and having to go into the tool and out just to see if it is what you want is a waste of time.  Simply put the crop tool is now broken - please revert to when it was working perfectly.  Thank you.

Hey Adobe Camera raw team - you have a crop tool issue in the new release that needs to be fixed - or at least reverted back to the way it was before when it was perfect.  Don't just take my word for it - read ALL of the messages at this thread and others that are posted in many other places all complaining about the same thing. I appreciate the work you do and love the program - but  sincerely hope you will get the message and act on it ASAP.    I speak for many.  Thank you.

Yes I'm having this exact same issue! The crop tool only affects the thumbnail, not the actual working area. Worked fine in the old version. This really sucks, I also now need to find out how to revert to previous version of camera raw, this completely breaks my workflow. Using 4th gen Intel graphics (yeah I know, but it was working fine before this update...)

edit: why can I select "Other versions" of everything other than camera raw? OMG this is super frustrating!!!

edit2: ok was able to install the old version by closing creative cloud desktop app and installing from here: http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/photoshop/cameraraw/win/12.x/CameraRaw_12_2_1.exe

Well now that I figured out how to revert to 12.2 I plan to stay here for a while. Some common tools I use that were on the top bar are now buried in 12.3 and its not really worth the trouble testing it. I can deal with UI changes even when they make my workflow more difficult, but I don't have patience when basic tools are straight up broken.

It's extra steps but if you open it as a smart object you can then go into Photoshop and use the good cropping tool then bounce back into raw to finish your processing. The only downside of that is you no longer get to use the effects for darkening the edges and you'll have to do that separately. It's really a lot of extra steps and I sincerely hope somebody at Adobe will address this
