I am getting ready to upload tens of thousands of RAW photos to the Lightroom cloud.

1. Are there any disadvantages to uploading them via the web app?

2. It it recommended that I add copyright to photos when importing? They’re mainly all personal photography.

3. Are the import settings accessible in the web app?

Hi Tim,

We don't have import settings on the web yet, so if that's something you need I'd recommend using the app. The app should also be a little safer if there's a network issue (or you need to shut down your computer). The web upload should certainly work, and also will get the same metadata, but it sounds like it might be a better bet to use the app in your case.

In terms of copyright, I'd recommend googling for advice, but it certainly won't hurt to add it even if it's just personal photography.

Cheers,
Alex

Alex,

Thanks for the reply.

I had previously imported all my photos into Apple Photos, and that software organizes the folders according to import date, so I have one folder with around 50,000 photos. When I attempt to access that folder for import, the loading animation spins indefinitely. I'm guessing there are too many photos. So, I've been dragging and dropping photos into the web application in batches, and manually deleting the photos from the drive once I've verified that they're uploaded. I'm not sure what the limit is, but I've been uploading batches of around 1,000.

I know I don't have any duplicates in this folder because I used Lightroom Classic a while back to filter out all of those as I was consolidating all my photos there before I switched to Apple Photos. If there were duplicates, I would want to use the desktop application since the web version doesn't check for those.

I've decided that Adobe cloud is best for my RAW library, and Apple Photos is sufficient for my mobile photography.

Any other suggestions that might help streamline this process would be welcome.
