LR: In Library module, please allow randon notes to be typed in "Comments" area in right panel. This is very important to make notes about "external" processing done in other Plug-Ins and brought back to LR for final processing. "History" only shows image as exported and then re-imported. I have to be able to note which external editor I used and that's a perfect place. Thank you in advance.

The Comment area is for comments retrieved from places like Facebook, Flickr, 500px etc. about the images you've posted there using Lightroom's publish services.

Consider using something like John's Big Note plugin http://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

I understand what the current use is for the 'comments' section. I am suggesting that that area - or make another place - for our own notes without yet another Plug-In. Thanks for the comment.

There is already such a field in the right panel. Thought as I am using LR in french I cannot be 100 per cent sure of the english name.
And it is an exif/xmp field not dedicated to the comments from social networks.
Look carefully and you will find it. It lays near the time, legend, title,... fields and it is a one line field until you start writting more than one line.

Thank you, Barbar_e! I have found that field. It is called "User Comment". It is in both the "EXIF and IPTC" and just the "EXIF" Metadata Sets.

Thank you so, so much. This is wonderful news!
