Seems like users cannot at present sync or easily move Collections (smart or otherwise) between catalogs.

It would be very helpful if these acted just like all the other presets etc that can easily be synced or copied across catalogs and even different platforms.

You can do this with an export/import gesture.

Otherwise, how would this work, other than for Smart Collections? You need the image references for the collection, so unless the collection is built from search criteria the references will be wrong or missing. Even so, with Smart Collection, unless you have the exact same dataset (catalogue) you will not get the exact same results.

This thread answered your point. If you don't understand that, just ask.

Did you know that if you import/export a catalog, all its smart or dumb collections are being imported or exported too? Even if the catalog contains one dummy photo.

You can use this trick to copy collection sets between catalogs. More details here

And by the way, it's using just one catalog has its advantages too. :)

using just one catalog bogs down light room when too many photos are loaded in it though. It runs too slow.

I can only export/import single Smart-Collections. To manage large sets of Smart-Collections this is annoying. Why I cannot export/import comlete Sets???

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled
Lightroom: I want to export/import complete Sets of Smart-Collections.

It would save me a TON of time if we could export an entire collection set with settings to import into another catalog. This is killing me. Why so much technology without the flexibility! One collection set being exported at a time is just a tease. It would also be necesarry to keep the 'name' of each collection and set intact. Currently when you export a single collection it renames it 'smart collection' upon import.
