PHOTOSHOP: A function that would quickly convert & save a flattened low-res duplicate; of a hi-res work in progress. (Sort of like a screen-shot)

I'm a digital illustrator and use PS on a regular basis. I create a lot of Hi-Res illustration's and hi-end graphic's that consistently include many layers, saved selections, masks, and custom paths, etc. Often times I need to send off design progress, show minor revisions, and/or additions. It can be lot of layer chaos, merging, and organization. Then convert to low-res JPG or PNG and potential resizing. I give my customer's multiple options to choose from. Including; colors, multiple backgrounds, types of special effects, whatever... I've been doing screen-shots for years. it does the trick, but there also can be cropping, scaling, and exporting file formats too! Is there, can there, will there be an option for faster and more effective way to do this?

I'm really hoping this came across right and made sense to everone-Arg!
