A simple, additional way to faster keyword assignment?

How about turning keywords into Targets - an idea borrowed from the LR target collections procedure, so that I can simply type a given letter as I scan my library looking specifically for images of - say dogs or trains, to tie said images to a pre-targeted keyword, "dog" or "train". It's fast, it's intuitive. The idea came up as I am desperately trying to attach keywords to my vast repository of images (6,000 - I delete unwanted images ruthlessly). Such a maneuver would add a simplified and speeded up approach to the keywording process, and happens to have been lifted right out of the LR Target Collections playbook!

Will the Keyword Paintbrush fill this void for you? https://www.lightroomqueen.com/power-painter-tool/

Or the Keyword Set/Numeric Pad shortcuts? http://blogs.adobe.com/jkost/tag/keywords

Hi Rick, Thank you for responding.
I am familiar with the other methods. They are more involved, riskier, slower and, to me, clumsier over all. Hence my suggestion :). LR's Target assignment as already used with Collections is simple, quick, intuitive, elegant. Why not the apply it here?! And even elsewhere. Thanks again Rikk.
