Photoshop CS6: "Render Video" problem with third party plugin

I have problems when using the Render Video feature in Photoshop CS6.
I open a video file, convert it for smart filters, apply a 3rd party plugin, and when I export the video, it starts exporting OK then after a while a weird message appears.
from that on, the message appears one frame after another, and you can only press "OK" in the window.
I talked to the plugin developer and he looked through the problem but came up discovering that it's probably a bug in Photoshop since it is calling the plugin for each frame and after a while things go bad.
I also talked to Adobe support and the man said since it's a 3rd party plugin Adobe doesn't offer support.
but since I believe this is an important problem, I think it is worth a look, if the plugin developer is right there's a problem in the way Photoshop is using the plugins during the video export, and that would be a bug - and would affect A LOT the new video feature experience inside Photoshop.
I'm available for other infos or for testing.
I really hope this will get fixed.
thank you

Which third party plugin are you using? That sort of behavior sounds a lot of like a leak or bug in the plugin.

Try using one of the Photoshop plugin filters (like Average or Solarize, or Lens Flare if you feel adventurous) and see if those have the same problem.

I tried with two different plugins, and the result is the same.
obviously with the embedded Photoshop filters the problems is not there. but no surprise :)

could you or me file a bug report? I think this is very important, it is affecting the real power in using Photoshop CS6 Video feature. I mean, if it wasn't for the ability to use photographic plugins on the video, the remaining features that are worthy are not so much.
so please don't discard this report.

Which plugins are causing the problem?
You are filing a bug report here, but we need more information to reproduce the problem and send it to the third party authors.

The Photoshop plugins work just like third party plugins -- if they work correctly, then there probably isn't a general problem with the code, so the problem is most likely in the third party plugins.

I see.
I tried PTLens (http://epaperpress.com/ptlens/index.html) and a trial version of Nik Software plugins.

just in case it makes any difference: PTLens is fully licensed, and I also verified my settings with the developer.

Alright, we'll give those a try and see what's going on (but probably after the July holiday).

HI Raffaele,
I have not been able to reproduce the issue with Alien Skin plug-ins on Mac 10.7.2

Please send (either reply here or send a private message) with the following 5 pieces of information:

- The exact wording of the error message.
- The name and version of the failing plug-ins
- The settings used for Render
- Info on video file (.mov, from 5Dm2 etc).
- Your system info from Photoshop
Photoshop: Help > System Info copy & paste

Thanks,
Meredith

Yes, PTLens is licensed and also work on still smart objects.
I can grab a screen recording in which you will see the workflow I'm using and when the error appears.
please tell me how can i send it to you.

Raffaele,
Would you also perform a few basic "problem solvers"?
- Reboot the machine
- Restart Photoshop with clean preferences
How to: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/375776
- Verify you have read & write permissions on the plug-in and video file and every folder for which the plug-in and video file is a subset via Get Info.
- Do you have any drives that are named the same as the path to the file or the plug-in (ex: an external drive named "Applications")?
- Try creating an additional Admin user will full permissions and try as that user. It's not unheard of to have the Mac permissions file become corrupt.

Looking forward to your screen capture.
Thanks!
Meredith

Meredith,
here's the link to the screen capture:

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/10193715/scr...

about your other questions:
- rebooted
- reinstalled Photoshop
- also installed OS X 10.8 from scratch and then Photoshop CS6 from scratch
- permissions are OK
- drives have different names
- tried the new user, but same result

thanks
