PHOTOSHOP: PSD file size

Hi,

I am getting .psd files that are 200MB to over 340MB. Is there anything I can do to reduce this to something like around 30 to 50 or so MB? I have around 500 files from a wedding (selected for retouching out of about 3500 total), and the .psd files can get out of hand when storage and speed are concerned.

Thanks

The PSD file stores all the layer data that you include in it, plus metadata.

The only practical ways to reduce the size that much are to remove layers, save a flattened copy, downsample the image, etc. - all of which are destructive (lose information).

Hi Chris,

I understand. I thought if there was anything else that I wasn't aware of, like a preference setting or something else.

Thanks for your help.
