Photoshop: CS6: "Edit source" in 3D - changes do not get updated

Hello, I have a question regarding the "edit source" functionality when working with 3D in CS6. I have typed some text and made extrusion for it, but now I want the text to be of a different color than the extrusion. When I press "edit source" and change the color (and save it) of the original text, my 3D text color does not get updated. What am I doing wrong?

I can understand your confusion here, the "Edit Source" is for modifying the actual text. To change style and color you can use the Character Panel that you're probably already familiar with, just make sure to select that Text/mesh in the 3D panel before using the Character Panel.I have a video here:

Or you can go to the 3D Panel > select the 3D Text. In the 3D Properties Select the current color of the text > next to the word text and change it. See screen shot below.

Having answered this I see that there might be a bug here with that workflow. This most reliable way to change their color is to:
1. Select the Materials in the 3D panel (see screen shot)
2. Then change their "Diffuse" color. (see screen host)

Hi Daniel, thanks for your reply. Yes, I can see that I can change the text color by changing front inflation material, which is partially what I need. However I need to apply blend mode to the color as well. Also is it a bug that trying to do it through "Edit Source" option is not working?
You can see on this image how the front text has gradient color but extrusion is different. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/... That's what I am trying to achieve.

Thanks for your last tip, Daniel, about the diffuse color, it directed me on the right track. So after experimenting with it for another 2 hours, I found the solution:

For changing front side text color: select layer->3D->Front Inflation Material->Diffuse(Properties tab)->New Texture->Edit Texture. After having done all the editing of the material-save and close. It will update the changes in the original file.

For changing extrusion colors same procedure, just chose Extrusion Material instead of Front Inflation Material in 3D tab.
Cheers

Are you still answering questions on this blog? I am having the same issue with Photoshop CC and when I change the color under Diffuse it only changes the front of the text. No matter what I do the color change will not update. I can change the font but not the color. If you're still around I would love some help. Thanks!
