Lightroom - Import Function: “Make Second Copy To:” option disappeared from right-hand panel

I always check the “Make Second Copy To:” option when importing photos into LR5 to simultaneously backup original images to another drive. Today that option has gone missing from the Import function in LR5.

I was using this function yesterday with no apparent problem, and all program closing and shut down procedures appeared to operate normally yesterday.

I've tried checking for LR5 updates and I restarted my Macbook Pro (10.7) twice.

How can I restore this important, time and file-saving function to my LR5?

Check your import type along the top of the Import panel.

The Make a Second Copy option should be available for the Copy and Copy as DNG import types.

If your import type is set to Add then this option isn't available.

If your import type is set to one of the Copy options, then can you provide a screenshot of your import panel.

You're missing the File Handling panel. Right-click on another panel header (e.g. File Renaming) and see if you can reselect it in the menu.
