I don't have PS at this point, but I'm wondering if anyone knows whether it has the capability to merge a large number of aerial landscape photos into a mosaic, either manually or automatically? Thanks for any info you can provide.

Manually: of course.

Automatically: it's been done before. It'll take a while, and may test the limits of your RAM and hard disk, but it's been done.

If the images don't have distinct visual points of reference to align the automatic methods may fail. (e.g. if you have multiple images of a sod farm where the images are all green grass, there's nothing key off to align.)

Best bet, download the free 30-day trial and try it out for yourself. You may want to try it on smaller subsets of images - and for sure make sure you're running in 64bit with a ton of RAM.
