why won't me 3D tool work anymore (for text)? It no longer appears at the top when I'm typing and it won't give me an option of clicking it in the drop down menu or the popup menu. Any tips or help?

Could you please post a screenshot to illustrate the issue?
What are the image’s Color Mode and bit depth?

Hi Briana,

As Max mentioned (below), your graphics card might not be supported any longer and/or may need an update for the drivers.  You should see what is displayed under Graphics Processor Settings.

It is also possible that your graphics card drivers are no longer supported after an update. That happened to me. One day, I had 3D support and the next I didn't. I had to dig up new drivers that were not official dell supported before photoshop would recognize my gfx card and let me use the graphics processor again.
Check this:
Edit -> Preferences -> Performance
and look at the Graphics Processor Settings
if it's grayed out and you can't "Use Graphics Processor" you won't get 3d options.

If that's the case, it might be video driver issues or you may have a laptop that switches between onboard gfx and a GPU and it is using the onboard for some reason. You can change that in the card settings outside photoshop.

Are you running Photoshop or are you running Photoshop Elements?  Which OS are you running on?
