Hello,  I am using a tutorial for making a  3d text and the tutorial asks to select a certain color for infinite light, which the color number was given to me, yet there is no option to pick a specific color.  I can only use the dropper and pick a random color.  I have tried it in 16 and 32 bit, which was suggested on another forum.  Thank you!

I'm not sure what type of numbers you were given? RGB? You can set those numbers in the fields down by the normal color picker. Or you can use the 32 bit numbers input field for the color in the upper area. Don't forget the Intensity slider plays a big role, so I would hope the tutorial gave you that number, too??? If not, just slide it until the color looks right in the New box up top.
If that doesn't help, or for some reason doesn't work, come back and tell us what OS and what version of PS you're using so someone can help you troubleshoot.

Thank you for your response.  I am running windows 10 and the current ps cc.  For example the tutorial asks to input the number
"chose the color #f25646:"  for the infinite light.  But I can not input a color number,  I'll I can do is take the color picker and choosing a color.  I don't have an area to enter color numbers.  I just wanted to be able to input a number for another image in the same composite, if that make sense.    Here's the close up of the color picker.  No area to input a specific color.   Thank you!!

Hello, this color is a 8 bit hex code for the web... http://www.color-hex.com/color/f25646
In Ps, enter it at the bottom of the 8bits color picker :icker

Thanks for the replies.  If I'm in the essentials work space and go to the color picker, I do get the color choices as above in the pic.  It's just in the 3d workspace is where I can't choose the specific color I would like.  I can only use the eyedropper.  I have changed the mode to 8, 16, 32 color bits channel, and it's not changing.   I appreciate the link, yet I'm not understanding it.  Thanks all!

Oh I see your problem. It's a bit round robin, but you can double-click on the foreground swatch in the Tools panel to open the standard Color picker. Enter the Hex number next to the pound (hash tag) symbol and note the HSB numbers (seen above left column). Write them down if necessary. Go back to the 3D color picker and enter the HSB numbers you noted. Then click on the swatch at top and it should apply it to the object your tutorial has had you target.
I confess it's been rather a long time since I used 3D in Photoshop, and perhaps there's an easier way to do that, but at least it ought to get you there. It did when I tried that. Let us know if it doesn't, and someone who knows PS 3D better than I may be able to help—after the holiday, anyway.
