2019 PS Compositing Engine Inconsistent and Unusably Buggy. It clips things depending on zoom scale and exactly how one clicks or uses tab to navigate fields. Please have real people test your software. All of this was immediately noticeable to me.

Hi Christopher,

If you would like to disable it, go to Preferences > Performance and then check "Enable Legacy Compositing"

Hi Hannah,

I've updated to the latest version of PS 2019 and everything is working fine for me. I just saw that I still have Enable Legacy Compositing checked, under Preferences, Performance.

My question is - Should I un-check  it now that my PS 2019 is working fine?

I guess I would like to know what the difference is and are there still known bugs as to why I should leave it checked? I just don't want to jinx anything while everything is working fine for me.

Thanks in advance.

I encountered so many bugs with masks on smartfilters not working when you save that inside a smart object it's not applied to the smart object above.
blur a layer also blurs layers mask instead just blurring and masking out.
display errors when zooming or not updating changes on screen etc.

this version is buggy

You'll find also that the only option is to downdgrade to 2018 release. And just for future - it seems it will be so each next year. The same story we had about release 2018 they did not fix completely yet but released Ps 2019 with another bugs. It's just they don't care how Photoshop will work, the main goal is, it got released, even when there are a lot of bugs! That's the new concept. Normally if they were sersious they've tested everything and then made decision to provide it to use, wouldn't they? This is unrespecful to say something is officially supplied when in practise you can use it over a half year later!

We get that. We're asking that Adobe not release products that destroy our creations, fail to operate properly and force us to downgrade.

just adding my voice to this. vr 20.0.1 on 2017 MB Pro. I also have chosen to use 'legacy compositing engine', and this has corrected many but not all of the blending problems.

I continue to have trouble with stamp tools and brushes. I'm unsure if these remaining problems are related to the composting engine, to photoshop disagreements with the graphics hardware, or if this is just life now under the New Adobe
