Photoshop 2014.2.1 extremely sluggish.
Photoshop is now taking absolutely eons to load on a Win7 64: Xeon hex core X5650 processor: 24Gb RAM: GeForce GTX680 4Gb box.

- 14 seconds = splash screen appears after double clicking on either a psd / tif or the PS app to open (Used to be instantaneous)
- 22 seconds = file opens (picture appears)
- 37 seconds = desktop makes tools available
- Clicking on menu bar buttons also takes two or three attempts before they respond.
- General 2-second delay when initiating any process such as Curves or Hue/Saturation. (Used to be instantaneous)

I have reloaded the previous version.

THe only thing we've seen cause that much slowdown was a bad version of Kaspersky anti-virus (updating solved the problem).

Although my slugish performance is more when dealing with files. Adding type to existing blocks, switching tools, etc. No Kaspersky

Hi,

Since I've updated to 2014.2.1.my actions are plodding along very very slowly.

The program seems to start up fine, I've never really assessed saving files so I can't comment on that part.

I was initially experiencing challenges trying to save actions - attempting to save "set current adjustment layer" was a temperamental result, after reading on forums I was encouraged to enable/disable the generator plug in which also had a woolly result. I updated to 2014.2.1. hoping this may help the bug I was experiencing which had no effect on my initial challenge and has now slowed down the speed of the actions immensely.

I tried to roll back to a previous version of PS using time machine but no change. I've even completed a fresh install of the OS thinking it might be something else. However after a few hours of messing around ... it is still the same. I did migrate the old set of preferences and actions from a time machine back up but the instal was a fresh download.

Previously when I ran an action it would fly through the processes and the results would feel almost immediate. Since the update it feels like I'm now using my old macbook pro which was 7 years old and felt like i needed to throw coal into the back of it!

I'm running Yosemite 10.10 on a;
MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013), 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB.

I also think Nik software plugs may have automatically updated through this timeframe however I have attempted to uninstall the plugs completely yet there is no change.

Do you have FileVault enabled at the OS level?

And have you checked the action playback settings?
