The "Update DNG Preview & Metadata" function stalls when any kind of error is encountered, rather than displaying a message.

Steps to reproduce:
- Produce an invalid DNG (corrupt one)
- Introduce it into your catalogue (replace a valid one)
- Select the invalid image (or any group containing it) in Lightroom
- Select "Metadata -> Update DNG Previews & Metadata"
- Wait until the heat death of the universe

Actual results:
- At the universe's expiry, Lightroom has still failed to alert the user and acts as if the update is still in progress (progress bar is visible but empty)

Expected results:
- Lightroom shows the same error popup it shows for other processes like "Validate DNG Files", allowing the user to see which photos are problematic and fix them (by restoring from backup)

System:
- Retina MacBook Pro 13", Late 2013
- Mac OS X 10.10.3
- Lightroom CC 2015.1.1

Can you provide a sample corrupt DNG that's causing LR to hang?

Use something like www.dropbox.com and post a public share link.

Sure. Here's a sample image: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B48L...

Note the the embedded preview works fine and that Google Drive is displaying it correctly as a result.

The true RAW data in the DNG is missing from the file and causes Lightroom to hang.

I should have also requested the pre-corrupted copy of the same DNG since your test scenario requires that to be imported, initially.

Sorry, here's the pre-corruption original: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B48...

P.S. the original was likely corrupted by Lightroom in the first place while I accessed the file on a CIFS network drive.
