I'm using Photoshop 21.1.1 on Mac OS 10.15.3 and when I select File > Export > Save for Web, an error message appears. "Save for Web" error in Adobe: This operation could not be completed. An unknown error has occurred."

Thanks for help, Sandra

  • Unfortunately I cannot work with the product, because I mainly create animated gifs

I don't understand the cause because I installed Photoshop from scratch, but resetting the PS preferences helped me.
Press and hold Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) immediately after launching Photoshop. You'll be prompted to clear the current settings.

With a new file with more frames it unfortunately doesn't work again and deleting the settings again doesn't help either. Please do not mark as solved!

I have a .psd file that can be exported as an animated GIF and saved for web and one that has the above error. I can provide both files for debugging. Please remove the solved with this problem. The problem still occurs!

I suspect it's memory related. My machine here has 32GB of RAM and I can't repro. Going to try on another machine with 8GB. Do you have any other apps running? If PS is the only app running does the number of PNG you can load/process go up?

Good morning, so I can't see any load on iMac, are there any new findings on the bug yet? I have also tried turning off all other programs and the error persists.

Not yet. Still looking for a system or way to reproduce in house.
