Hello,

Latest Photoshop, latest Windows. This may got broken with recent Keyboard shortcuts work. Other AltGr + [letter] combinations do not trigger functions with Ctrl + Alt biindings while in text editing mode (but I‘ve checked only the ones from Polish Pro keyboard IME!).

Similar to [solved] http://feedback.photoshop.com/photosh...

As an anecdote, I first reported similar problem to Scott Byer in 2004 [solved]: https://groups.google.com/forum/m/#!t...

Howdy,

So, I can see the issue you're describing, but I don't think it's the bug you think it is...

I'm using Microsoft's Polish keyboard layout (Programmers).  With that, I can easily add all the ć ś ń ż etcs I want.  Which keyboard are you trying?

Also, keep in mind, AltGr only works if you hold down the RIGHT ALT key.  If you use the LEFT ALT key, you will trigger application commands, not get AltGr letters.  Adding CTRL to this is also how to access application commands.  So while invoking Canvas Size from within a modal text dialog is not ideal, it's also not totally unexpected if you're using CNTRL+ LEFT ALT + c.

Thanks,
David

Hello, David,

Terribly sorry, you’re right - it does work!

Now for the explanation of why it didn’t for me (even though it’s unlikely to affect anyone). I have a UK physical keyboard, but wanted to be able to input Polish characters exactly as in Polish (Programmers) keyboard. Problem was that when switched to that - some keys weren’t in the same places (as Polish-Programmes is based around US keyboard layout). So I’ve added chars I wanted to the UK layout through Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator.
Thing is, I’ve added that IME in Regional Input Methods under English language. Then AltGr + c (ć) - and only ć! and only in Photoshop - does not work (triggers Canvas size). When the same layout is added under Polish language - ć works :)

I’m sure it’s entirely academic, Photoshop is not really at fault here.

As an unrelated sidenote, I think there is only one real plus of using Photoshop on a Mac - you’ve got an extra modifier key. It would be great to be able to use Win key as a modifier in Photoshop (and Microsoft to finally let one control if AltGr should trigger Ctrl + Alt... Grrrrr) :-)

Thanks for responding!

Howdy M,

For what it's worth, I agree about the advantages of Mac's extra key.  I do all the shortcut work and I tell people all the time "we're SOO out of key combos on Windows."  Ah, well.

Have a good one and glad to hear everything is all worked out for you,
Thanks,
David
