In Photoshop 7.0, I can't save any images. I keep getting a message stating, "Could not complete your request because of a program error." It never used to do this. I am using Windows 10.

Photoshop 7 is really old, and probably not going to work on any machine that runs Windows 10 (it can't even deal with disks over 1 TB, because the OS APIs for that didn't exist when Photoshop 7 was written).

I am having the same issue on my old laptop that runs on Windows 7. The same version of Photoshop has been working perfectly on that laptop for several years and now all of a sudden it won't let me save any images. Nothing has changed on that laptop, so I don't think it has to do with the operating system.

And nothing has changed in Photoshop 7 in many, many years.

But it was working fine a couple months ago, so why would it stop now?

I would consider buying the most recent version, but it appears Photoshop has gone from a system where you buy the program to a system where you buy a membership and make monthly payments forever.

Something appears to have changed on your system. You could try resetting Photoshop's preferences.

You can still purchase Photoshop CS6 with a perpetual license. Right now you are WAY behind the current releases.

I had windows 8 and now Windows 10 never had the problem in Windows 8 - My HD is partitioned so it should only be reading less than the 1 TB (as suggested the issue earlier). Also everything works fine except for saving as anything. However I can export out to Image Ready and am able to save here. Shouldn't there be a fix out there...or possibly some upgrade available? If so what would that upgrade be from 7.0.1.

Photoshop 7 hasn't qualified for upgrades for many years.
We're now shipping Photoshop 16.1.

what is the closest version to Photoshop 7...I am use to this type and have taught classes in this so my knowledge is better versed for this. Maybe closer to a version that deals with editing pictures just for web development
