"Places" function is broken in Elements 14 on MacOS 10.11.2

I'm finding that the "Places" function no longer works in ver 14 of PE. Also, naming faces takes SO LONG and sometimes crashes PE. I kept ver 13 on the computer as well and might go back to using it. Oh, and this new version (actually the previous one too) eats resources like a pig. My computer's OS is OS X El Capitan 10.11.2.

Hi James,
I am also frustrated with picture localization in PSE14, it is too slow when displaying all pictures and the dialog behavior is not user-friendly.
One way I succeed to use it is by selecting directories if it works for you.
If your pictures are organized by directories, it allows to reduce the number of pictures displayed on the map and make it usable.
Hope this will help.
Regards,
Dominique

Not sure what you mean by "organized by directories". I'm pretty anal about directories and sub-directories for my photos but the album just has the pictures in date order (newest first), so I don't think that is the problem. It actually seems to be "broken". It defaults to a map of the west coast of South America (I live in Iowa, USA). When I type anything into the search field at the top of the map, and hit enter, nothing happens - at all. No message appears, or anything. I kept ver 13 on the computer and the map function still works fine (well, less fine than ver 12, but still better than 14 which doesn't work at all). I thought, at first, that it might have someone to do with updating my Mac to the latest OS X version, but I don't see anything on this site about that being a problem.

The other thing I noted is how long it takes to tag a face in the Organizer. It used to be very quick. It just keeps getting longer and longer, and then screws up and (sometimes) puts the name on a different face in the picture. I think I'll just go back to using iPhoto, which isn't anywhere near as good at editing pictures, but at least it works quicker.
