"Import previous settings and preferences"

I can't deselect "Import previous settings and preferences" when installing Lightroom Classic CC and don't want to mess up my fragile LR catalogue given all the bad reports concerning the new Classic version. The Advanced screen lets me un-check "Remove old versions" but "Import previous..." is greyed out. What options if any come after I click "Update"?

I didn't got any problems with catalog database upgrade. My way of working is the following.
Set Lr preferences "general" screen, "Default catalog" "at "at start-up, load this catalog" choice to do "ask at Lr startup' (see screen here under

Then stop/restart Lr. You will get a splash screen asking you which catalog to choose (and where)
At that point, LR recognise the older catalog. I my dump screen you can see that transformed catalogs are having a 2"-2" as suffix. This mean that these catalogs has been up graded.
On the dump screen you can see that I kept the old format of my VIDEOS.lrcat. If I want to upgrade this catalog I will receive an other splash screen (here after)

In this screen if you want to upgrade the VIDEOS.lrcat, You will receive this next screen
In this next screen you see that LR recognise that I already have upgraded this catalog and is asking if I want upgrade it on more time.

If you haven't upgrade any catalog, you will not see this screen.

At any catalog upgrade, Lr keep the old version. This is why you have a -2 as suffix after upgrade.
I never delete these old catalogs. But, I only keep three backups of this olde catalogs. Just as security

Thanks for your reply. I know about the -2 suffix etc but what I don't understand is why the "Import previous settings and preferences" is greyed out when first trying to update. I want to start a new catalogue on a separate drive with no previous settings as a test before I commit myself to this so called Classic version of LR. I need to know that the installation of Classic will not interfere with any settings I currently have for my CC 2015-12 version which sort of works, even though slow!

It only applies to other apps like Photoshop. For Lightroom, most settings (like presets) are automatically shared or copied over. To create your test catalog, just hold down the Ctrl (Windows) / Opt key (Mac) while starting LR, to show the catalog selection dialog and create a new catalog.

Again, thanks for speedy reply. However... my question remains. WHY IS THE OPTION TO "Import previous settings and preferences" GREYED OUT in the Advanced setting for updating to LR Classic???

Because it only applies to other apps like Photoshop, that actually need to move settings files to a new app.

Sorry, I'm a bit thick today, I now understand that the option only applies to other Adobe programs.
