I bought a Canon t5i and was told photos are better as a RAW file but when I tried I cant get them to open up. Are you able to work with .CR2 files with your products because I can not?

Hello! Which application (and version) are you trying to use to open up those files? What is your OS (operating system)? Also, are you getting an error message when they won't open? If so, can you post the details of that here? Thanks!

Hi Darin,

Sorry about not able to open RAW files, could you please confirm which version of Photoshop is installed on your computer, also what is the version of Camera Raw installed?
Also, for the confirmation is it Canon EOS Digital Rebel T5i?

Regards

Canon EOS Digital Rebel T5i.... yes
Tried Adobe PS 7.0 and PS CC2017 trial. Neither recognized .CR@ files.
Tried to convert to DNG but still not recognized

That camera would require Camera Raw 7.4 or newer (or DNG Converter 7.4 or newer if you want to convert to DNG first). You can find more info on the DNG Converter, including links to download and instructions to use, here:  https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/adobe-dng-converter.html

What is the error message you are getting? If you could post a screenshot of the errors you are seeing in both the DNG Converter and Photoshop, that would help. It would also be very helpful to know the version of ACR and DNG Converter you are using. Thanks!

DNG converter has no errors. I converted it over to DNG but still not recognized by PS 7.0.

Cant screen shot but it says..." Could not open  "C:\Users\___\Desktop\Folder\New Folder\IMG_0004.dng" because it is not a valid Photoshop document

" Could not open  "C:\Users\___\Desktop\Folder\New Folder\IMG_0004.CR2" because it is not a valid Photoshop document

Ah, thanks! That message usually indicates a corrupted or damaged file, so this probably isn't about compatibility. See this article for next steps:
