'Zig-zag' option in 'distort' menu is not highlighted for use in Photoshop CS6

I am wanting to create ripple effects & went to 'Filter' > distort > & noticed that the 'zig-zag' option at the bottom of the list is faded so it can't be selected for use. I'm working on OS 10.8.5 on a Mac Book Pro Retina & use Adobe Photoshop CS6. Can anyone help?

Make sure your document is in RGB 8 bit mode. Does this help?

I have CS6 on my Macbook Retina with 10.8.5 and Zig Zag is available so I am partly stumped. Does this happen on all images or just the one?

What happens if you reset prefs? cmmd+alt+shift on launch, ok the dialog?

How large is the document? Several of those distort plugins have limits on the size of image/layer that you can filter.
