Shift click for straight lines is full opacity

Hello, I recently moved from a laptop to my desktop and had to set up photoshop again. It all works great but for some reason whenever I use the shift command with the brush tool to draw straight lines it's coming out at full opacity? Without shift my pressure sensitivity is working fine. I never had this problem before and can't figure out how to fix it. Any help is appreciated!

This might be another manifestation  of the problem introduced with the June updates. Try going to EDIT, Preferences, Performance and uncheck Legacy Compositing. Also if that does not do the trick, turn off rulers.

Thank you Dave. Unfortunately Legacy Compositing and rules were already off. I've tried turning them both on/off but the issue persists.

Perhaps one of the Adobe people or Champions will pick up on this thread...

What's changing, the Opacity of the Brush, or the Layer?
