ProPhotoRGB images don't render properly with 'Use Graphics Acceleration' enabled
If you open a ProPhotoRGB image in Photoshop with 'Use Graphics Acceleration' enabled then it won't properly render transitions between one colour and another; it steps between colours in bands. Disable 'Use Graphics Acceleration' and it renders properly. Change to any other colour space and it renders properly.
Easy way to demonstrate it is to create a fill between black and white, which guarantees that you'll be able to render all of the colours in the image on your display.
It's not an option to keep Graphics Acceleration disabled all the time because some filters (e.g. Liquify) are only available when hardware acceleration is available.
I reported this bug back in March of 2016 (cases 0187639066 and 0187678577) and other people had reported this same issue long before I did. It's really about time this was finally fixed.

The attached image demonstrates the problem pretty well. The out of focus bokeh is blotchy when the graphics acceleration is on, but is properly rendered when it isn't, Note that you'll need to restart PS each time you switch graphics acceleration on or off.
Don't know if this impacts Mac as well, but I experience the same issue on multiple PCs with different (supported) graphics adaptors, and I'm not the first person to have reported this either. It's been complained about for a number of years now,

Can you send me the file or a crop of the file that shows this?
