Photoshop: Will not open png files - again
Using PC, Windows 7
A problem has suddenly appeared which did not occur previously:
I have updated Photoshop to version 21.0.2, and suddenly I find that when I double click a .png file I get the message "The program can't start because AdbePM.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop, but the problem remains.
When I look into the matter, I can see the AdbePM.dll file on my system - it is in the same folder as the Photoshop.exe file.
I can open the said .png files from within Photoshop - but I have several thousand .png files to process spread across a large system, and this is now a major difficulty.
Any know the answer?

Changing the default program for opening the file DOES NOT WORK - i.e. where you right click the file and choose "open with" and choose photoshop 2020 and click "always use this program to open this kind of file" - this has no effect.
But if you go the set file associations in the windows Start Menu and set .png to open in Photoshop 2020 there, it cures the problem.
