Photoshop: Using Text Tool Freezes the CC 2014.2 x64 release (Win 7)
I have just updated Photoshop CC to 2014.2.0 -- 20140926.r.236 x64 release. Now I am experiencing an issue when I use the text tool to just type a few words on a new document or layer. The application seems to freeze up as soon as I start typing? I wait several minutes with nothing happening and have to resort to using the Windows task manger to kill the photoshop processes. This did not happen before I updated to this release?? Please advise how to fix this if possible to rsdean0001@rsdean.com

I am experiencing this freezing issue as well. I don't have to force kill Photoshop, but have to wait several seconds each time I type or edit a text box. I am in Windows 8 64bit, not Windows 7 like the others. I will try to disable the font previews like mentioned above but wanted you to know this issue is not isolated to Windows 7.

The problem lies in the creation of the font cache files by adobe photoshop.
The folder C:\Windows\ Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\Adobe\TypeSupport is created after the first use of photoshop 64bit.
If you delete this TypeSupport folder and run 64 bit photoshop and try the text tool, you will find it loads and works fine. However, try closing photoshop 64bit and open it again that folder gets re-created and it wont launch again.
To fix this i have deleted the contents of the TypeSupport folder and altered the security of the folder permissions so i don't have read/write access to it. So photoshop cant write anything to the folder anymore and therefore loads every time.
I have had this fix running on 4 of my work PC's which all had the same symptoms.
Feel free to try it.
