Photoshop: Prints now have halftone dot appearance

I have been printing with CS5 without problem until today when suddenly all my prints are in a halftone-dot type format where otherwise it was wonderfully hard to detect the dot. I have tried a jillion things to remedy this without success. The curious thing is: photoshop images created earlier in the week still print fine today..only images made today are terrible(?)!

Something changed in your settings for your printer that changed the halftone pattern or resolution. If it is a PostScript printer, then you might have accidentally changed a PostScript screen setting in Photoshop. Otherwise it has to be a setting in your printer driver, not Photoshop (because Photoshop can't control the screen for non-PostScript printers).

Sounds like you have a file that has half-tone screen settings saved in the file from a previous version of Photoshop. The workaround is to open the file in CS4 (or earlier), turn the halftone settings off, and resave the file.
