Photoshop: Please add Content Aware Fill as an option for the clone stamp tool

Adding content aware fill as an option for the clone stamp tool in Photoshop would be very useful to me. What do the rest of you think?

Then it's no longer a clone stamp. And isn't that basically what the Spot Healing Brush is already doing?

Correct. Two different tools for two different results. Clone is copying the pixels from a source and cloning them exactly the same in the target. Spot Healing Brush is where content aware is enabled - content aware tool uses multiple sources combined/jumbled into new arrangements of pixels to best match the target area.

What might be useful is a combination tool, with a slider to select how much clone and how much content-aware is applied to the target.

I have no idea what that would do and why I would want that. What is 50% clone plus 50% content-aware? Which pixels would become cloned and which would be 'made up'? Besides, you could say that this tool also already exists. Next to the clone tool and the spot healing brush, we also have the normal healing brush. This tool is indeed a little bit of both. It clones the detail of the pixels, but uses content-aware technology to match the color.
