Photoshop: "Photoshop CC has stopped working" (crash in Nik plugins)

I keep getting this notification when I try and open a photo from Lightroom. I then have shut down CC.

That crash log is for your Nik/Google selectivePalette plugin.

Update or disable the Nik/Google plugins.

I uninstalled and reinstall Nik, and CC now works fine. Thank you very much.

Chris, I appreciate your point. But isn't it also possible that Photoshop broke the code? The Nik plug-ins work fine in 64-bit Photoshop CS4. But the same plug-ins on the same OS don't work in either 64-bit PS6 or PS cc. So now, like many PS users, I'm stuck with no alternative for several good Nik plug-ins that are not realized in Photoshop itself.

Will Adobe allow me to reactivate my CS4 and Lightroom 4?

No, partly because the crash is in the Nik plugin code, and partly because Nik has had to fix several bugs in their code to work with Photoshop CC.

Please contact Nik/Google for updates to their plugins. If the plugins continue to crash, then work with Nik/Google to get them more information so they can fix their plugin bugs.

OK, Thanks for that. Then I presume that Adobe and Nik have actually met to determine the exact cause. My crash dump showed that the plug-in was trying to read from a NULL address.

Something that confuses me is how the Nik plug-ins worked over many months of continual use in 64-bit Photoshop CS4 but reliably crash 64-bit Photoshop CC running on the same OS. The only change I am aware of was upgrading to CC.

Yes, because the bugs in the Nik code weren't as problematic in CS6. But they still crashed often. With Photoshop CC, their bugs are a more frequent problem, and needed to be fixed.

Thanks for the clarification.

Nik did an update to version 1.111 on February 26th:

https://support.google.com/nikcollect...

Please update your plugins and let me know if this update solves your issue.

After you update, you can confirm the version you have installed by launching Photoshop:

On Mac: Select Photoshop>About Plug-in>(Select the Plug-in name)...

On Windows: Select Help>About Plug-in>(Select the Plug-in name)...

It does not fix the problem. I have CC (paid) and I downloaded the last version (trial) Nik and it still crashes

Please contact Nik/Google about any remaining bugs in their plugins.
