Photoshop on macOS Catalina -- can't install

I've used Photoshop CS2 on my Mac for years but I recently had to upgrade to Catalina, and CS2 isn't 64-bit so it doesn't work any more.

So I purchased the Lightroom/Photoshop subscription, and that doesn't seem to work either -- trying to run the installer from the DMG I get:

“Lightroom Installer” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software.

I realize Catalina is still in beta, so the answer might be "wait for Apple/Adobe to fix things" but I'm hoping someone has suggestions.

EDIT: I can get past that by holding down control while clicking "Open" on the DMG, but I immediately get the error on a second installer that the first evidently spawns. Then the LR installer gets to 13% or 14% and just hangs.

Go back to release software and wait for Catalina to be released. This is not the least bit unusual for a beta operating system. And you agreed to an NDA which includes not publicly discussing Catalina.

What kind of Lightroom installer is this? If you are now using Photoshop/Lightroom on subscription basis, then you should install the CC app and then installing Lightroom and Photoshop is done through that app. There is no Lightroom installer DMG anymore.

BTW, funny that you ‘had to upgrade to Catalina’ when Catalina is not even out yet.

It's my development machine, and as a previous reply mentions, I can't actually talk about any details of Catalina or why I need it.

I bough the subscription, and the flow it took me through told me to download Lightroom and that the CC installer would be installed as part of it.

You have to download the CC App, install it and log in. After you have done that the apps in your subscription can be installed from the Apps tab of the CC App.

Well i will say i'm having the same problem as Jim and i get the same message when trying to follow your advice John.  When trying to install the CreativeCloud Installer. "Creative Cloud Installer " can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software.

We are presently working with Apple to officially support the current versions of Photoshop, Lightroom and Lightroom Classic on macOS 10.15 when it is released later this year. NOTE: Running on beta OSes is not officially supported.

Try to install Photoshop or CC App on Final Version Catalina, but Photoshops stops installing after 5,2% and de CC App after 21,5%.

I had no problem on a clean install of Catalina (formatted SSD) and then download the CC App and install everything from that.

I'm having a similar problem now.  I upgraded to Catalina and, of course, Photoshop CS stopped working.  I was unable to do an official uninstall of the Photoshop suite at this point so I just dragged all the application folders to the trash.  I purchased Photoshop Elements 2020 but now I am unable to install it.  Every time it gets to 4% it reports "Sorry, installation failed -- An unknown error has occurred. (Error Code: 1)"

Go into Security and Privacy, General, there should be a button to allow photoshop to be installed without the normal security, if you have just tried and failed because it couldn't check it for malware. I trust Adobe and wouldn't do this for an unknown developer. But I was able to install it this way.

Is there an update to this?  I'm on released Catalina, and I've just paid for a Photoshop subscription.
