Photoshop: Occasionally freezes/crashes on Undo
Hi,
I have the problem that Photoshop hangs infinitely sometimes after using undo (the new undo). There is no error, it just freezes and I have to shut it down over task manager.
I am using Photoshop CC 20.0.5, but tried also 19.1.8 and had there the same problem.
I am using Windows 10, have the latest Nvidia driver (431.36).
Also using a Wacom graphic tablet with the latest driver.
I already reset the preferences but with no success.
Don't know what I can do anymore to make it work. Kind of impossible to work with this problem.

What sort of things are you doing in PS that you're undoing, so I can get an idea what's going on? I'd like to help troubleshoot this, but the first step would then be to replicate what you're seeing.
Thanks,
David

Usually using the pen tool to sketch on my graphics tablet. If one presses the undo button a few times while trying to get the correct line then it seems to freeze and in order to stop it then you must either fiddle with the trackpad mouse and move the pen away from the tablet surface, or minimise photoshop momentarily from the taskbar menu before reopening it up to full size. Usually the page reopens slowly, with the photoshop icons taking a few seconds to 'pop' in.
This leads me to suspect it might be lag between the graphics tablet and photoshop rendering it on the screen after using the undo tool. It isn't a major issue but can get irritating. I would love some advice on how to solve it.
Cheers,
Laurian

I am not totally sure, but it seems that bigger and more "complicated" brushes trigger the problem more than smaller, simple brushes. But the problem is really hard to reproduce sometimes it will freeze right at the start and sometimes I can normally work for hours without the problem.

I do think we are describing the same issue but it seems to be more managable for myself than for Paul. I haven't yet had to kill Photoshop to get the program working again.

Whenever it freezes I simply move my cursor (Wacom tablet) to the top of the file
window and move the whole window a bit. Just a little left or right. Sadly it's become
second nature now, but only slows down the workflow by a bit.
