Photoshop: No drawing possible with Brush Tool with a pen when zoomed in

Hello,
I use MS Surface Pro and Surface Studio, both with a Surface Pen and both with Windows 10.

Since some days there is no more Pen-drawing possible with the brush tool on both devices (with each a single pen) in Photoshop CC.
When you zoom in once, the pen works like a hand tool but not like a brush.

The pen still works correct in MS Ink, OneNote and even in Illustrator.

The latest Windows 10 update 16299.334 introduced this problem.

Complete workaround here:

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Photoshop: Brush tool scrolls canvas instead of drawing whilst zoomed in.

I'm using a Wacom tablet and currently I can't do any drawing when there are any scroll bars on screen. As soon as a scroll bar appears the brush tool stops being the brush tool and instead just starts scrolling the canvas. This makes doing small detail work very difficult. This only does this when i'm using my tablet pen, when i switch to my mouse the brush tool functions as intended.

Drivers are up to date, I know my way around computers and have tried multiple "fix's" to try and fix this issue. I am only commenting here as I've run out of solutions (not to mention I can't find anyone else having this issue).

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Hello, thanks for replying.
I think this problem is the same I have.
I wonder if anyone - using Wacom or Surface Pen with Windows 10 updated - is able to draw with it.

I think the problem is one of the last Windows updates and a Bug with the MS-Ink-Software.
There is a recent article on Reddit, that exactly describes the Bug:  https://www.reddit.com/r/windowsinsiders/comments/86mrqm/attn_microsoft_windows_10_insider_build_171...
When you read the article further on: to the "New Bug" with the Microsoft spring update, then it ́s exactly the problem I have.

And anyone else!?

Hey there, Same issue here! Build 16299.334 on windows 10 Seems to be the problem since I updated to it , I have the same problem on my Surface with the pen. So I restored the updates by deleting this spring update, and now everything works as before. As long as microsoft or adobe do not fix the problem I think it's the best option to continue working.
Cheers

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled microsoft surface pen issues with scroll bar.

Conflicts with the surface pen in the program with the scrollbar. If I accidentally tap the scroll bar in PS with my surface when drawing the pen pressure sensitivity will now only scroll the image up and down and left to right. it will only work as a brush is hold the left click down on the pen ...

this only happens in PS nothing wrong with the pen

Where is this update  RS4 RC build 17133 release?

The problem is still existing!

Is there anybody, who is able to draw in Photoshop and the latest Windows 10?

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Photoshop CC 2018: Brush Tool Not Working After Zooming In / Deleting A Layer.

My Wacom Bamboo tablet refuses to work properly in Photoshop CC 2018. I have never experienced this problem before in the last 2 years.

Here are the symptoms:
  • The brush tool doesn't work after the pen nib leaves the tablet surface.
  • This happens also when an action is undone or when a layer is removed or when I zoom in and zoom out of the canvas.
  • The brush tool 'thinks' it's a mouse, and upon using the pen, it moves the canvas instead. Other parts of the program (and Windows in general) can be highlighted, dragged, drop, etc.
  • Sometimes when the brush tool is used, no color appears on the canvas. I have optimized my Pen Pressure, enabled Windows Ink and nothing works.
Things I have tried:
  • Uninstalling and reinstalling the software (Wacom).
  • Trying new ports. Same result.
  • Installed a new driver and rolled back to the old one. Same result.
  • Used new nib.
  • Cleaned the surface of the tablet.
I don't know what else to do anymore. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thank you.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled [BUG] Latest Windows 10 update makes Windows Ink have issues with Photoshop.

The update made Adobe Photoshop CC 2018 (19.1.3) not immediately input brushstrokes on a tablet while zoomed into the image.

Specifications:
Laptop: MSI GT62VR Dominator-027
OS: Windows 10 Home, version 1709, OS build 16299.334

Tablet: Wacom Cintiq Pro 13"
Driver Version: 6.3.29-4

What steps led to the bug:
1. Launched Adobe Photoshop CC 2018.
2. Opened a blank 2000 x 2000px @ 300dpi image.
3. Input some regular brushstrokes before zooming in, works as normal.
4. Zoomed to 100%.
5. Attempted to input brushstrokes, but instead of showing strokes it moves the document around. However, if the pen is held down for a second then strokes are made, they appear.
6. Disabled Windows Ink through the Wacom Tablet Properties window; brushstrokes then work while zoomed in but pressure sensitivity is overall removed.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled brush moving canvas.

Hello!

It seems I have a problem- and I have checked with wacom, they  have told me how to fix it and even when I followed their instructions, it didn't work.

What happens is, whenever I try to draw in photoshop, the canvas keeps moving, like so:
https://gyazo.com/3976a95d2aae8c4dee3fa577bd721990

If anyone has any advice or could help, I'd appreciate it :(!!

I fear, nothing has changed with the new Windows update.

The Microsoft Surface devices - though designed for it - are still absolutely paralyzed for working with Photoshop for art purposes.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Photoshop: Issues with Pen since Windows 10 update KB4089848.

Since the Windows 10 update KB4089848, Photoshop CC 2018 is not working anymore for some people. Are you working on a fix? We're paying for a sub and we cannot use the products!More about the issues in here: https://forums.adobe.com/message/1026...
