Photoshop: My "select subject" experience is very slow/poor

the new "select subject" feature is way to slow for real practice. this is just a simple, very small photo, with very easy selection. look how long it takes for select subject to take it.

these are my performance preferences:

Hi Roei,

Thanks for the report and the video. That is slow. I wonder if we can increase Select Subject's performance for you. Can you please go to Help > System Info and then copy and paste the contents of that window?

Thanks,

Please excuse me tagging onto an existing thread, but over at
https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2442036
a user describes that they are lacking the feature altogether after updating and screenshots seem to support the claim.
Do you know whether there are known issues that would be able to cause this?

That customer does not have an active membership. I suspect he's using a crack of a build without the feature.

Thanks!
I would not have thought of such an issue ...

Well my membership is active and I agree the select subject feature is pretty weak. Also there is no mention in help so .. you don't know if you are doing something wrong or it's just a half baked  function.  I get much better results with the select and mask tool even if it does take a few more clicks.
