Photoshop: Keyboard shortcut to toggle the auto-select layer option on-off?
Hi,
Situation:
When i ́m working with photoshop I work with many different layers, sometimes I ́d like to activate the auto-select layer so I ́m faster but other times I have to switch off in order to move small layers on top of big ones.
Proposal:
Keyboard shortcut to activate or deactive the option, so if I ́m in one layer but i want to paint or move the layer on the bottom I can select the layer with the mouse and this key at the same time, and i don ́t have to look in my layer list or switch every time on and off this option..
sorry for my english..anyway is just a small detail to be faster.

Thanks for the advice, but this helps if you name all your layers, but i don ́t remember the name or number..for example when I paste something small like an icon and I want to move it, if the auto-select is one is hard to click on top of the icon, most of the times I don ́t remember if is on or off because i change it a lot when i ́m working and then the selection goes to the bottom one,...
Anyway thanks for the advice.

I dont know if this is still relevant, considering it's a 2 year old thread.
However, since I was looking for the same information, I figured I would at least update it with the answer I found.
I was looking for this same thing and figured out that all you have to do is leave the featured turned OFF...
Then when you want it on just hold the CMD key and click on what you want selected. It will then switch to "auto select"...
The weird thing is that it will not show a "checkmark" in the auto-select box...
You will only know it's ON by clicking on something and looking to see if it auto selected that layer for you.
