Photoshop: Jpeg is 3 to 5 stops darker in Windows Photo Viewer

Recently updated to 1701.1.1 and noticed a glitch. When I either export or save to web as a jpg the image is at least 3 to 5 stops darker. Anyone else seeing this. Trying to go back to previous version but it's extremely slow connection!

Can't reproduce on my machine... need more info. What is the color profile assigned? What settings are you exporting with?

Ok, this photo was saved using save for web as jpg. It looks fine here and in PS. But then I view it using windows photo viewer it looks really dark. I also looked at the rest of my photos and all are coming out dark in the viewer. Ok, tried a different viewer and it's normal. Sorry about that as it was always my default viewer and was fine. Now I have to figure out why!!

It depends on the version of Windows you are running. Seeing as it's "windows photo viewer", I am assuming you're on Windows 7 or 8. Windows photo viewer do not support custom icc profiles so if your monitor was calibrated then you would find this.

Once I tried a different viewer it was fine. You were right about wpv not using the icc

In your "Save-For-Web" dialog, what are your "Embed Color Profile" and "Convert to sRGB" checkboxes set at?
Try changing the dropdown "Preview:" to be "Internet Standard RGB (No Color Management)" and see if it goes dark like you saw in your previewer app.

Windows photo viewer turned out to be the culprit. My monitor was calibrated with a spyder 4 pro and the viewer was fine. however I just upgraded to a I1 display pro2. Am thinking the I1 did a much better job and the ICC it created threw the viewer for a loop. If I use windows photo instead it and PS look the same
