Photoshop: Incorrect document displayed on re-enetering Photoshop

Common scenario:

- working on multiple documents in Photoshop. Document worked on
before going to Desktop is Document "A"

- going to Desktop by pressing 'Option-click the Desktop Icon' to reach Desktop
while hiding Photoshop automatically

- when returning to Photoshop, other then document "A" is displayed

This is really not a 'problem per se', but rather annoying occurrence that does not seem to have a reasonable logical motif.
I've made a couple of tests and found out that the document active (or displayed) on return to Photoshop from Desktop, is the last document opened in the session.

If this has been addressed already, would you point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

Can you post a screen shot of your screen so I can see how you have your document windows arranged? (tabbed/not tabbed, app background/no app background)

Jefferey.

My Preferences are set to Non tabbed documents and the above occurs when the App background is set to Standard Screen Mode, Full Screen Mode with Menus and Full Screen Mode alike.

My Keyboard Shortcuts and Menus preferences are set to "Use Legacy Channel Shortcut" - I believe this may play a role here as well.

Attached here are screen shots of my general preferences settings:
