Photoshop: Image ruined during quick selection/select and mask
I was quick selecting, then clicked Select and Mask and BAM! Photoshop applied random patterns to ALL masks and raster layers and SAVED the file. The worst part, I couldn't go back in history! Luckily Photoshop didn't touch my corrections in masks and raster layers, just added some crazy stuff of its own. So I just had to individually clean all layers. This was a happy end, but I lost time. Weirdest thing that ever happened to me in Ps.

I'm wondering if your issue was related to comp core. It sounds like you installed a previous version of Photoshop, but if you still have 20.0.1 installed, would you please go to Preferences > Performance and then check "Enable Legacy Compositing"?
Also, what OS are you using? It looks like a similar issue that was happening on Mac 10.14 (in which case, you might simply need to update to 10.14.1).
Thanks,
Hannah

Thanks for the message.
No, I decided not to switch back since I realised that I'm running Ps 20.0.1, not 19. Legacy compositing is unchecked.
I'm on OS 10.14.1
I was also experiencing a situation when turning layers and/or masks on/off wound not show any change. This issue seems to be gone now, perhaps because of upgrade of Ps and OS.
If issues persist, I'll try checking Enable Legacy Compositing as you suggested.
Thank you again.
