Photoshop: How do I install on a different drive?

Adobe Products must allow install into other drive locations.   Make a note in a config file or registry key where the product has installed.   Hire programmers with some experience.  Not just some kids out of college who have learned how to click their way obediently through MS Visual Studio.

C Drive is the only installation option for Adobe Pro CC and Adobe Pro 2017.   Probably for most other current Adobe products installed via the Creative Cloud installer.

This is unforgivable.   Adobe Pro is 4.5 Gigs minimum after install.   Photoshop much more.  Adobe's requirement that their apps must install only onto C Drive is a step backward.

If I didn't HAVE to edit PDFs, I would refuse to give Adobe another penny until they put some more thought (and work) into their app installers.

Hi Jereme:

The C drive on Windows or Macintosh HD on Mac is just the default install location.

You can change this using the Install Location pop-up menu in Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop.

If not already open, launch Creative Cloud Desktop and go to Preferences > Creative Cloud > Apps > Install Location.


Use the pop-up menu to select the desired install location.

You can select a different install location using the Creative Cloud desktop app's Preferences

hi! i changed my install location to another disk but it still installs on C! any idea what could be going wrong?

The install experts hang out at this installation specific forum: https://forums.adobe.com/community/download_install_setup Sorry I haven't heard of an issue like this. One thing to maybe look at is make sure the drive your targeting has the correct permissions, and is formatted correctly (you can't install in case-sensitive volumes)

This usually happens for a few reasons: Removable media (don't use a thumb drive or something like that), permissions, or wrong type of drive format.

I found I could change the drive when installing Photoshop Elements 2019. Now, when it is not loading I cannot unstall it using Windows Settings as it still expects it to be on Drvice C!

This could all be avoided by asking where the installation should be in the first place. Instead you assume you would like to fill up my SSD and ignore terrabytes of storage. Good job Adobe
