Photoshop flaws 1

In my opinion, one of the problems with Photoshop is that Photoshop does not have the ability to mask a folder on a single layer, and to merge the files of that folder.

Please explain what you mean exactly, maybe add some screenshots to clarify.

In particular what you mean by
to merge the files of that folder
seems mystifying to me.

I want to mask that group without having to merge the layers of a group on one layer.

Do you mean mask a group(of layers) and merge within that group?

No, I want to mask that group without having to merge the layers of a group on one layer.

You can already mask a group. The same way in which you can mask a layer.

It seems none of us understand what you want to say. Could you post an image that shows that you'd like to achieve so we can imagine it (at least me), and perhaps somehow help...

I feel stupid. Now we know you want to use not regular mask, but clipping mask. Probably on a group, not on layer like it's shown on image? Isn't Jerry Syder answer that you want - using normal mask on a group, that you don't have to merge layers inside then?

Sorry, my English is not good and I am getting help from the Google Translator. So I might mean it's a mistake.

Anyway did you try that Jerry Syder suggested?

Because I misunderstood him, and I thought he understood what I mean.

As you can see, there is no way to create a clipping mask for a group.

You'd like to use clipping mask on a group with a layer below to apply such aciton to layers inside?

Yes, and the problem is that it does not exist. Unless we merge the layers in the group.

You can use 3 steps workaround, that you can automate recording an action to trigger by shortcut:

- select transparency of a layer that's below group (hold Ctrl & click on Thumbnail in 'Layer' panel
- 'Add Layer Mask' (3rd icon from left again on bottom of 'Layer' panel
- drag layer mask to group that is over a layer with added mask

excellent.
You are right
But again, I think it might be a mistake that the group itself did not have this possibility. But that's what you were trained was good. If it was possible for the group itself, it was easier.
In the world, the fastest way is to get to the big work. And I do not think that this option will create a problem.

You are right that could be good solution. I might to script it though somehow that you will be able to add clipping mask to a group. That will be nothing like a workaround I used, so without visible 'arrow' of clipping mask, but might be replaced by for ex. some colour on a certain folder that was used for, and that'll be more consitent. btw Action works only for recorded name of group, so each time you had to have for ex. 'Group 1' name while with a script you can work with any group name.

What is your name on regular Adobe Photoshop forum?
Send a message to Kukurykus via that If you're interesed.

There is no such name on that forum, are you sure you have the same like here? Anyway I can't find anyone with this name, so better send me a message, by clicking my name in previous message.

I think I know why I couldn't find your name - you had not any activity on that forum. Fortunatelly you contacted me, so it's sorted out.

Unfortunately, I could not send you a message there because my country is banning me and I will open these pages with the filter breaker. And apparently there is no way to send the message to you.

I recieved few empty messages from you. But then after I replied for one of them you were able to answer back. So at least you can talk after someone contact you first or react for your attempt to say anything.

I did not get it right. If you have a telegram or an instagram, we can communicate with each other there.

One can also convert the Group to a Smart Object, thus maintaining Layers’ edibility, though not immediate edibility.

I mean, the lack of this feature is a weakness.

If you were able to answer to my private message on that forum it seems you got it right way. If not what do you mean be that?
