PHOTOSHOP: File > Generate > Image Assets to work on Layer Comps

Generate image assets is a useful feature, but it would be way more useful if we could set a custom (relative?) file path in preferences and also, more importantly have it work for layer comps!

You can use File > Scripts > Layer Comps to Files... to do this automatically for all files.

The new version of Photoshop also has support for Layer comps in Generator. Just add generator syntax in the layer comp name!

I can't get the syntax to work in Layer Comps? Does this really work? I tried entering the following

1024x600 layername.jpg

and nothing was generated. Is there a way to do this? Thanks.

it's not officially supported but it should be working for layer comps too. You have File->Generate->Image Assets checked, right? does it work for layer? Can you also try if it works for comp if you don't specify it's size? Like 'layercomp.jpg' only?

ok... removing the specific size was the trick. I suppose it only supports basic syntax, which is probably why they don't really make mention of it.

Thank you for the help. I should've tried it without the specific size from the get-go. A momentary lapse in brain function. ;)

specifying size *should* work too; not sure why it doesn't. try something like 300x? (? instead of number for height, so it's automatically calculated). Or size in %, like 50% comp.jpg?

Because it's part of a software product that hasn't been release yet. If it were anything else, I'd send it right over. Wish I could.

Hi Erick,

I had the similar issue because I used the "generator.json" hack in a previous version of photoshop to enable the SVG export?

Hack explained here: http://creativedroplets.com/generate-...

I solved my issue by simply removing the "generator.json" from my User Folder (mac).

Perhaps you did the same hack?
If not, please ignore my comment!

I can reproduce this problem with a file. Irina, I am emailing to you.
