Photoshop: Evenly spacing dashed shape strokes

Glad that strokes can now be added to vector shapes as a shape attribute rather than a layer style, and the provision for dotted and dashed lines. This features fails for me because dashes don't seem to align or space sensibly - not a problem for arbitrary shapes, but it looks messy when used on squares. Because it's not clear what the unit for dashes and gaps is, it's very difficult to size them up correctly. It seems to me that relative values should be used, rather than absolute values.
