Photoshop: Drop shadows are hard-edged

Drop shadows: I am having a weird glitch - my drop shadows are hard-edged. Example: imagine an apple, add a drop shadow. Instead of the contour of the apple the shadow looks like you cut it off on two sides with the marquee tool

Please upgrade to the 20.0.2 update that went out late last night. It should fix this issue. Please let me know if that is not the case. Thanks for reporting this issue.

If you go to Preferences > Performance... and check "Legacy Compositing" and restart Photoshop, do they render correctly?

Sorry, I couldn't reproduce the problem you are describing. Perhaps it is a computer/program corruption problem.

Has the apple been cut out first? This looks like you added a layer that contains the apple, but not just the apple. The drop shadow will be applied to the edge of the layer itself.

Thanks, but yeah, the objects have been cut out first, no drop shadow already on the layer
