Photoshop: CS5 will not open some .psd files

I have a 24inch imac and have just purchased cs5.
It will not open .psd files that I made previously.

Did you install the updates to Photoshop?

How are you trying to open them? (MacOS has some double click and drag/drop bugs)

What error do you get when trying to open those files?

It says it is not a valid document.
These files are on a memory stick, the files are produced using CS5 at school on a windows machine, the computers we have at home are Mac OSX.

All updates are installed. and we have tried all methods to open them.

OK, then they are probably corrupt on the disk/memory stick.
The platform shouldn't matter at all, as long as the files are copied correctly.

I am going to get them to email it to me today and see if it opens.
Thanks for your quick responses so far. I will keep you posted.

Ok, so something went wrong with the transfer to or from the memory stick. Probably should check that stick with a disk utility to make sure it isn't too corrupt. And figure out if it has a problem with the school or home machine.

Interestingly enough the faulty thumb drive we were using was the free one we got when purchasing the software last month.
Do you give a warranty with free stuff?
