Photoshop: Could not complete the New 3D Layer from File command beacuse the selected file is not a recognized 3D format

I want to open .tga file in 3D but it doesn't work. Help! (I tried with .bmp .jpg .png files too but i think that files don't work in 3D)

When, exactly, do you get this error?
Which command are you using?

For that command, I believe you need to select a 3D file, not an image format.

Try restarting and resetting preferences. Something might have gotten wedged. Cmmd (ctrl Windows) + alt + shift on launch and then click OK to reset.
