Photoshop: Character Panel not showing correct sizes

When i select one text item it shows the Correct font size in the Character panel.. but when selecting more than one text item (all of the same size) Photoshop's character panel shows the size (pt) around 1/3 the actual size. For example if one text item is 15 pt but when four 15 pt items are selected the size is shown as 5 pt

im not sure if this is a bug or how Photoshop is supposed to work.

We've released an update to correct this issue such that the behavior of text size/transforms is the same as CS5:

It looks like engineers tried to change this, but didn't catch the protests in the CS6 beta program. People are talking about it here:

I just posted this in detail with many photos, so hopefully many will start to have a voice on this and the engineers will see our issue.

Howdy David,

Did you perform a transform on any of the type layers?

Hey David,

after reading about how it was a "new feature" -i think part of the discussion in the other thread is i shouldn't have to remember if i performed a transform on the text layer or not. if i am being handed a file from another designer and i select multiple text items and the character panel says inaccurate information-- it causes a mess --and that's currently what my studio is dealing with. The only work around we have so far is just to select each text layer individually and changing the size that way.

Hey David,

I think part of the discussion here and the other thread is that i preferred the old way of handling text. Before realizing it was a "new feature" it was rather confusing and is causing a mess of issues within our studio.

i don't believe i should have to worry/remember if i have performed a transformation on a text layer or not. And if i get handed a file from another designer i can't always ask "did you perform any text transformations". In many workflow transformations are used to find approximate sizes and then those size are communicated across different designers... and if the character panel shows sizes that are not direct -- it creates issues. The "new feature" is causing issues and i favored the old way of handling text in the character panel.

Yes, I did perform a transform on some of the text layers. Others just read out wrong values without transformations when multiple are selected.

Howdy David

This is an issue that we're looking into which was compounded by a change made in CS6. We are hoping to put in a fix soon.

Thanks,
David
