Photoshop CC: Vector Mask selection bug

You can no longer select the vector mask thumbnail in Photoshop CC after it has been disabled on the layer. In previous versions of Photoshop, I was able to click on the vector mask thumbnail after it has been disabled and edit what I want to exclude from the vector mask or edit the paths that I created.

Which specific version are you using?
Have you installed the 14.2 update?

Using version Photoshop CC 14.2 on Mac even with the update this is still not working.Tried on latest Mavericks and Snow Leopard.

agree. When the Vector mask is temporarily disabled by pressing Shift - Click the Thumbnail (Mac), one can no longer see it or edit it. This is not intuitive. It worked much better in previous versions IMHO.

This issue has not been rectified in 14.2.1 update that was recently updated.
Very upset that this has still not been looked at, the only workaround is to use CS6.
Please update on the whereabouts of this fix.

The issue where the vector mask can not be edited while it is deactivated has not be resolved in the latest Photoshop CC update 14.2.2.

Is it possible to have an update on the progress of this?

That's a pretty big oversight, if you ask me and frustrating as crap.

It's a nuisance, but the workaround is to lower the mask density to 0 in the Properties panel, instead of disabling it in the Layers panel.

Yeah, that's what I did. Thanks. I've reverted back to 2001 and I'm making path layers.

I chatted with an Adobe "tech" and it was painfully fruitless. He actually made me second guess myself and I thought I was nuts for a minute. He said, "If you disable the Vector Mask, you can no longer edit it". – That's when I left the chat.

I've just talked to the Adobe Support. It seems that this functionality has been disabled in every version of CC.
I wonder if the engineers can add a section on the preferences pannel for this, as they did with the Legacy Healing Algorithm in CC 2015.5...

Yes, this was handy. My workaround is set layer mask density to zero in properties panel. Mask looks disabled and you can edit it, but you don't see disabling mark in layer mask thumnail.

I am doing now that way, but I am not able to load selection from mask when mask density is set to zero.

As usual Adobe has tried to "fix" something that works perfectly in the past

You are right. I Also can't.

There is one more bug. If you lock artboard position via layers panel you can't edit vector path and you can't select points. It's already logged and adobe want fix it.

This issue should be fixed by the Photoshop CC 2018 (19.1) update that was released today.

Hey Jeff, it's only half fixed in 20.0.2. See issue below...

In 20.0.2, I cannot select multiple points in a vector mask (by Cmd+drag) if the vector mask is switched off.
The "set density to 0' workaround works, but it's a nuisance.

Can confirm. The behavior is still very buggy with the mask switched off.

WHY is this still (21.2.4) not fixed? It's annoying as hell.

Side note: related; when using for instance the 'Elipse Tool', pressing shift ('force proportions') only has an effect when the shape is changed (mouse movement). In PS CS6, pressing shift immediately forces proportions. As it should be.
