Photoshop CC Tools

I've just had to phone Adobe because the Clone Stamp Tool wasn't in my left-side vertical toolbar.

Apparently, tools slip in and out of the toolbar if you don't use them! (I only installed 2017 yesterday, so I don't know how it thinks the Clone tools are not necessary).

Whilst it magically appeared once I searched for it within Photoshop (the magnifying glass top right), you need to know the name of what you're looking for to find it.

More importantly... how it is Adobe's right to decide what I use and don't use! Just because I chose the Graphics & Web workspace it doesn't mean I don't want to clone, heal images etc. It's a basic use of Photoshop for me!

I'd rather have a workspace where Adobe makes no decisions for me and I choose whether I want things or not.

And also - when you have to phone Adobe for such a basic thing as the clone tool, please do us long-time users the courtesy of telling us that you've made such a change to our regular workflow.

Thanks Winsnes
That was very helpful.

But Adobe - what a waste of time and resources that was!
I still can't believe I actually had to phone Adobe to find where the Clone stamp tool was!

Maybe thats the reason why they add new feature for searching in tools and menus :-)

This is the kind of thing that is good to have in a "What's new?" click through blocker with a couple callouts and arrows... "Unused tools will be hidden, but you can find them using the new search or in Edit->Toolbar..." (arrow pointing to toolbar).

I've never seen them go missing unless I've loaded a workspace they ship. I use my own normally, so of course, nothing gets hidden. Everyone has had problems with that, and I think they should fix it, not drop tools because you clicked on any workspace except Essentials. They do seem to have restored all the tools to the Essentials workspace because people couldn't find them.

What you can do in future is click and hold on the three dots near the bottom of the toolbar. If the popout shows a list of tools, those are hidden, and that's where you can unhide all the tools. Click on the . . . edit toolbar command at the top, then in the dialog, click on Restore Defaults.

Maybe someday they will understand that we don't necessarily associate the toolbar so closely with the workspace that we want it "simplified" for our benefit. I like the feature—so long as I'm in control of when or if it's used with a particular workspace.
